MovieMed : Tourism and film production in the Mediterranean

The first MovieMed Meetings will take place in Marseille on 18 and 19 January 2010. They are organised by Moviemed, an EU-funded project within Invest in Med, which aims to promote Mediterranean film production through better information on the natural, human and technical resources of the area, through improved efficiency and quality in facilitating shoots and through the creation of co-production opportunities. The project’s objective is to develop closer links and interaction between the film and tourism sectors.

Film production brings with it considerable economic gains both directly and in terms of tourism and media exposure, which is a highly positive development factor. The Mediterranean countries in fact are rich in exceptional, but often little known, natural, human and technical resources.

The two days of events at the Marseille Provence Chamber of Commerce include a «Project Market», a «Master Class on Mediterranean Co-production» and a training workshop on «Shoot Facilitation Services». A special exhibition and meeting area will be provided.

MovieMed partner countries are: Egypt, France, Lebanon, Morocco, Spain and Tunisia.
