The EU-funded Euromed Audiovisual II Greenhouse project ended its third seminar with a final pitching forum in Izmir, Turkey, in December 2009. 10 prominent professionals from the international documentary industry attended the Greenhouse event, moderated by Paul Pauwels, director of the European Television Management Academy.
13 projects by 24 filmmakers from Egypt, Israel, Turkey and occupied Palestinian territory were presented by Greenhouse to the 10 panel members who, at the end of the pitching forum, selected 5 Broken Cameras by filmmakers Emad Burnat (occupied Palestinian territory) and Guy Davidi (Israel) as the best Greenhouse IV project. Claire Aguilar, vice president of Programming for ITVS (USA), awarded the directors with a 10,000 euro development grant.
The day following the pitching forum, the filmmakers had meetings with the panel members, to further discuss possible cooperation and receive constructive feedback concerning their projects.
Greenhouse's first round film, Not Quite Taliban, directed by Fadi Hindash from Jordan, was selected for Movies that Matter Festival 2010 in the Hague (The Netherlands) taking place in January. Hindash has been invited to present his film at the festival. The film was recently commissioned also by DR Denmark and Channel 8 Israel.
